Like most cleaning chemicals, floor care chemicals have become much more environmentally friendly as the demand for green products has grown. A variety of green chemicals, including cleaners, seals, finishes and strippers, are available for use on floors of all types, from tile to hardwood.

Green products take the health and safety of janitorial workers and building occupants into account, and are more environmentally friendly than the harsher traditional floor care chemicals. Neutral all-purpose floor cleaners are some of the most popular green floor chemicals, as they are good at removing light to medium soil buildup. Floor seals and finishes can be used in facilities where green cleaning is a priority, as the reduced amounts of zinc and ammonia are much better for indoor air quality. Most floor seals and finishes are paired with finish removers that are chemically formulated to work specifically together.
