The jan/san industry is innovative, as are its members. The BSCAI New Member of the Year Award is bestowed upon a new member who unfailingly shows up for BSCAI. This individual demonstrates a commitment to the principles of BSCAI through their involvement and participation across various BSCAI-sponsored committees, programs, and events. The recipient, who has past and presently created a strong impact on the industry, is DTK Facility Services.
“Through BSCAI, our leaders have made valuable relationships that provide ongoing value,” Ryan Bishop, CEO of DTK, says. Dedicating their services to uplifting occupants within and outside of their industry, DTK has always led with a growth mindset.
Since 1996, this organization has strived to advance the health and safety of facilities in the Houston area. From religious and academic institutions to commercial and retail spaces, DTK values the wellbeing of those in the profession and within their communities.
“We strive to care for people as much as we care for the places we maintain,” Bishop shares. “Our Blessing Others Committee helps us care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our team members and their families, customers, suppliers, and greater community.”
Currently, the company reports overseeing more than 1,800 staff cleaning in over 700 locations. One method to attain their goal of procuring quality people to provide quality services is their membership with BSCAI. This partnership allows DTK to continue developing their practice, exceed customer expectations, and further their vocation within the cleaning community.
“At DTK Facility Services, we share BSCAI’s commitment to supporting and promoting the successes of building service contractors,” Bishop says. “Attending BSCAI events, involvement in peer groups, and certification programs connects us with people who share our same drive to do better business and serve others well.”
Bishop discovered that the advantages of joining BSCAI included opportunities to connect with other professionals and build upon a repertoire of industry knowledge. He adds that DTK’s attendance at various BSCAI committees, events, and programs provided multiple outlets to obtain resources and identify current industry trends. Moreover, DTK’s involvement within BSCAI certification programs enabled his staff to learn and grow.
“Our managers are completing Certified Site Supervisor courses, which allows our team members to develop as professionals and leaders, strengthening our entire organization,” Bishop shares. Credentials add to the company’s credibility and character, which also aids DTK in carrying out their mission.
The company’s core principles of “dedication, servant hearted, and trusted partner,” are attained through innovative practices that foster healthy and sanitary spaces for staff and customers. Since joining BSCAI, DTK staff and leadership have uncovered new, creative solutions for current industry issues. Bishop asserts, “the association’s resources keep us informed, inspired, and engaged.”
Apart from their steadfast commitment to community-driven cleaning, DTK showed significant involvement in BSCAI. This award accounts for their persistence in improving both the personal and professional development of their members to enrich services for facilities and the people who occupy them.
“It’s a recognition of the hard work, faith, and dedication our team pours into every facility we care for,” Bishop affirms. “It reminds us that when we lead with purpose and put people first, it resonates beyond our walls.”
For both management and employees, this accolade is a reminder that the work they do matters—not only for their organization, but for the community they service.
“We’re deeply thankful to BSCAI for welcoming us into such a supportive community and for recognizing our commitment to excellence and service,” Bishop says. “We work together as one team to create a positive impact and help others flourish, representing the best of what the building services industry can be.”
