Public Restroom sign for restroom facility

Excel Dryer, Inc. reinforces the need for improved hygiene solutions, highlighting findings from new global research through the adoption of all-in-one sink systems in restroom facilities.

A global survey revealed cleanliness and hygiene remain the top concern in public restrooms. All respondents agreed that a dirty restroom reflects poorly on an establishment. Survey participants identified paper towel mess as the leading contributor to unclean restroom environments.

The debate between which method—paper towels versus electric dryers—is more hygienic remains inconclusive. A critical review found that both hand drying tools result in similar health outcomes. Yet, increasingly, facility managers must select cost-effective systems that meet building sustainability goals and improve occupant experiences and outcomes.

Integrated sink systems address these needs by combining hand washing and drying in one fixture. This approach reduces touchpoints, eliminates paper towel waste, and helps maintain dry floors.

"Commercial restrooms play an important role in how customers view a facility," notes William Gagnon, Executive Vice President and COO of Excel Dryer.

Public perception and loyalty were factors contributing to restroom upgrades at RiverTrail Beerworks, Saranac Lake, New York. Focusing on sustainability, RiverTrail Beerworks Owner Christopher Ericson decided to implement an integrated system where guests could wash, rinse, and dry their hands in a single location.

"The sink systems get mentioned more than you would think," he shares. "People are impressed when they go in there."

This system, the D|13 Group's D|Verse Integrated Sink System, features the XLERATORsync Hand Dryer. A recent CleanLink 2026 Reader Choice Award winner, XLERATORsync helps facilities reduce their carbon footprint by up to 81 percent compared to paper towels.

A leading solution for architects and facility managers, the D|Verse system was also named a Top 75 Building Product Award Winner by Building Design + Construction (BD+C). Additional accolades include Sustainability Product of the Year from the Business Intelligence Group (BIG) and SEAL Awards.

"The D|Verse Integrated Sink System featuring XLERATORsync improves convenience, supports sustainability goals, and delivers a better overall experience," says Gagnon.
