Rubbermaid Commercial Products (RCP), part of the Newell Brands portfolio, announced the return of the Behind the Scenes of Clean initiative. Now in its fifth year, this nationwide appreciation program honors the custodians, cleaning professionals, and facility cleaning teams whose work helps keep workplaces, healthcare facilities, public spaces, hospitality venues, transportation hubs, and entertainment destinations operating every day.

Launched in 2022, Behind the Scenes of Clean has become an annual tradition that celebrates the custodial and facility professionals whose work is essential to keeping communities running. Since its inception, the initiative has hosted more than 250 recognition events nationwide and honored around 25,000 custodial and facility maintenance professionals, celebrating the often-unseen workforce behind clean, safe, and welcoming environments.

"Behind the Scenes of Clean has grown into a meaningful tradition of gratitude," says Robert Posthauer, President, Commercial Segment of Newell Brands. "Behind every workplace, school, hospital, and public space are dedicated professionals whose contributions are often unseen, but always essential. We are proud to celebrate the people whose hard work helps communities function every day and to thank them in person for the impact they make."

As the centerpiece of this year's initiative, RCP will host 11 appreciation events across the country—including Mooresville, Atlanta, Orlando, Chicago, and Naples—personally recognizing around 1,250 custodial and facility cleaning professionals face-to-face. At each event, custodial and facility teams will be recognized through appreciation gatherings.

Supporting custodial professionals goes beyond recognition. For more than 55 years, RCP has helped custodians and facility teams succeed with durable, trusted products—from safety signage to washroom innovations. Guided by its purpose, Made for Work That Matters, RCP is committed to engineering innovative products that help frontline teams work more efficiently and confidently.

In honor of National Custodian Day, celebrated on October 2, RCP encourages everyone to take a moment to thank a custodian, cleaning professional, or facility team member in their community. Whether through a personal note, workplace recognition, or a simple expression of gratitude, every gesture helps spotlight the essential professionals whose work promotes public health.
