Computer on desk with ALI Survey opened

The American Ladder Institute (ALI) is conducting its 2026 Ladder Safety Training and Citations Survey, the fifth iteration of a long-running effort to evaluate ladder safety training, injuries, and Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) citations nationwide.

Previous survey reports were released in 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2024, creating a valuable, multi-year record of ladder safety trends that tracks ladder-related incidents, OSHA citation activity, and the effectiveness of safety training. Findings from the 2026 survey will be compiled into a comprehensive report following the close of data collection. The results will reveal preferred methods of ladder safety education, types of ladder-related accidents and injuries, frequency and types of ladder citations, and how rates compare to past surveys.

ALI is encouraging safety professionals, employers, and organizations that work with ladders to participate in the survey. Completion takes approximately 15 minutes, and all responses are anonymous and will not be connected to individuals or companies.

The deadline to complete the survey is March 31, 2026. Participants can access the survey here: 2026 ALI Ladder Safety Training and Citations Survey

“Results will help ALI continue to improve its ladder safety training materials, hone topics for future observances of National Ladder Safety Month, and help professionals and DIYers better understand proper ladder usage,” says Mike Van Bree, ALI President.

The survey launch comes as ALI prepares to celebrate the 10th anniversary of National Ladder Safety Month, observed each March, as reported by CleanLink. This year’s theme is “10 Years of Safer Climbing”. Programming will focus on five key topics: Choosing the Right Ladder (week one); Check Before You Climb (week two); Set It Up Safely (week three); Climb Safely, Work Safely (week four); and an additional week for the 10-year anniversary, Safe Steps with Stepstools (week five).

ALI also provides intensive, free ladder safety training, which companies can license for use in their own safety programs.
