Green, and now sustainability, have been the buzz words the last few years and I feel will continue to influence our industry. Things such as carbon footprints, sustainable products and less dependency on finite resources will continue to influence products in the future. We have finally realized that our resources are finite, and if we are to have a healthier planet for future generations, we must look for ways to maintain our facilities with sustainable products and cleaning nature's way - not with high pH or high volatile organic compound (VOC) products.

Overriding issues with end users continue to be their desire to continue to cut down their overall cost of cleaning, while still maintaining a green cleaning program. End users may need to accept a lower level of general cleanliness, while putting additional emphasis on cleaning the higher customer/human touch point areas, such as entry ways, restrooms, etc. End users want to be able to clean green, but will continue to need the flexibility to also clean to be clean and meet those clean standards.

More customers are not only asking about green products but are demanding certified products to fulfill government and school contracts. I don't see the requests for greener products decreasing.
