Findings by the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control have identified emerging infections, pandemic bacteria, fungi, viruses, and more antibiotic-resistance on a regular basis. The uptick is particularly concerning to health care organizations facing financial penalties and reduced Medicare reimbursements due to hospital acquired infections (HAIs). However, there has been progress made in infection prevention, both in combating the spread of and identifying primary sources of germs.
