The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA) announced that it will change its name to the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) in June 2010. The change will coincide with a redesign of its Web site,, to make information easier to access.

"The Institute will continue to support the sustainability of the cleaning products industry through research, education, outreach and science-based advocacy," says Ernie Rosenberg, SDA president and CEO in a news release.

In addition to these changes, the association's Board of Directors recently elected Jane Hutterly, executive vice president, Worldwide Corporate & Environmental Affairs, S.C. Johnson & Son Inc., as its 2010 chair. Serving as Vice Chair will be Robert Chouffot, general manager for higher olefins and derivatives, Shell Chemical LP.

A total of 25 executives from the cleaning product and chemical industries were elected by SDA's membership to two-year terms on the SDA Board of Directors.
