One of the biggest draws of the ISSA Convention is its many educational opportunities. From the Advanced Distributor Program to special education tracks, the goal is to match attendees with the best information to help them succeed in their careers.
The Advanced Distributor Program features five sessions targeted toward executive-level decision-makers, focusing on sales team success, sales leadership, building a better distribution model, value-added selling and handling price objections.
One notable education track is the “Young Executive” track, which is being offered for the first time. It offers topics that are useful and timely to younger professionals and helps them to connect with others.
“We’re encouraging people to bring their rising stars and young guns to the show so they can network with other young people in the industry,” Steinbach says. “Exposing young talent to other successful young people in the industry can increase the value to young people.”
The “Get To Know Your Customer” track is geared for distributors, helping them understand service providers and learning what hot button issues end users are dealing with in order to tailor products and services to meet their needs.
“We also have a Workforce Development track, based on requests from members wanting to find and retain the right talent, with additional management tips,” Steinbach says.
Social media continues to be a hot topic for businesses as cleaning professionals try to navigate marketing and public relations in the ever-changing digital age. Based on demand for more social media and technology education, the ISSA Convention offers a comprehensive Social Media Bootcamp for Business seminar from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, Nov. 18.
More than 30 education sessions are available on Monday alone, including those that focus on CIMS certification programs, labor employment developments, the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, sustainability, microsites, and the new environmental tool by Ecoform and ISSA called Transpare.
Also, be sure to check out “Advanced Distributor Program: The How’s and Why’s of Effective Sales Leadership” with Jim Pancero, sponsored by Sanitary Maintenance; “Are you ready to implement LEED version 4?” with Steve Ashkin, sponsored by Facility Cleaning Decisions; and “Staffing Strategies that Cut Costs, Raise Revenue and Increase Profits,” with Mel Kleiman, sponsored by Contracting Profits.
Education continues on the trade show floor Tuesday and Wednesday at the Education Theatre.
