A Platinum Award Celebration was held on July 24, 2007 to honor and celebrate those who were instrumental in contributing to this achievement. Accepting the award on behalf of WAXIE were team members Cindy LaCasse, Dan Green and John Bielenberg.
The SMUD Customer Service Center was presented with a LEED® Platinum plaque by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and five vendors, including WAXIE, were also recognized for the significant contributions that were made to help the facility become the first building in the country owned by a utility company and only the fifth building in California to earn the rating of LEED® Platinum for Existing Buildings. The platinum level for LEED® for Existing Buildings is the highest of four levels of excellence in sustainable operations and maintenance recognized by the USGBC.
