xpedx, a business-to-business distribution company, has earned the ENERGY STAR designation at its locations in Charlotte, N.C. and Columbia, S.C.

The ENERGY STAR designation is given to buildings scoring in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency, based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) energy performance rating system.

“At xpedx, we strive to not only provide sustainable solutions to our customers, but also to maintain our own energy-efficient operations,” says David Wallace, xpedx director, sustainability.

xpedx has earned the ENERGY STAR at 24 locations since 2011, according to a company release.

“The ENERGY STAR is an important benchmark for our customers to see as they become more focused on sustainability in their supply chain, and it has also motivated our team,” says Bill Gravely, division manager in Charlotte. “Earning the ENERGY STAR has driven them to be conscious stewards of their work and home environments, and this visible dedication has even strengthened our team’s relationships with customers.”

The Charlotte and Columbia sites combined have more than 236,000 square feet of space.
