After months of receiving nominations of deserving frontline workers from across the country, Medline has officially announced the winners of its “EVS Super Star Contest,” which aims to honor employees who go above-and-beyond with infection control efforts in their facilities. Two recipients were honored in 2021, hailing from California and Pennsylvania, respectively. 

From Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, California, EVS specialist Lizzeth Guerra was selected for her outstanding track record of consistency. With a keen attention to detail cleaning upwards of 10 hospital rooms per day for over 15 years, Guerra’s combination quality work and a warming personality towards patients helped her stand out — with patients even requesting that she specifically cleans their rooms. 

From Heritage Valley Health in Pennsylvania, Mary Crowles also earned honors through her similar ability to both stay focused on the tasks at hand — while also establishing close connections with patients in her two years with the hospital. At a time where COVID-19 restrictions put a strain or restriction on family visits, Crowles always puts her best foot forward to fill that void as best she can.
