PerfectCLEAN, a UMF Corporation brand, announced the recipients of the company's National Education and Hospitality Hygiene Specialist Excellence Awards. These awards recognize the hard-working people who keep education and hospitality spaces clean and safe.
An associate of The Westminster School's facility management team in Atlanta, Meaza Eyasu was awarded the Education Hygiene Specialist Excellence Award for her steadfast commitment to the building and cleaning staff she cares for. He 10-year career as a custodian encapsulates her versatility—she wears many hats as part housekeeper, safety officer, first responder, and behind-the-scenes heroine.
Laura Corey, Westminster School's Environmental Services Manager, nominated Eyasu because she believes the award embodies Meaza's spirit.
"Meaza has earned the admiration and respect of the entire Lower School community through her unwavering dedication and conscientious work ethic," Corey says. "She is a shining example to our students of what it truly means to take pride in one's work. Meaza is a valued asset to our school community, and we are deeply grateful for all that she contributes each day."
The Hospitality Hygiene Specialist Excellence Award was given to Cardine Johnson, Lead Room Attendant of Topnotch Resort, Stowe, Vermont. For over 20 years, Johnson has consistently cleaned rooms and maintained a quality level of clean. In recent years, she has added coaching and training new and legacy staff to her daily job duties.
"(She) has been the uncontested backbone of our housekeeping team," shares Jeremy Fraize, Assistant General Manager of Topnotch Resort. "She maintains an immaculate attendance record and understands that cleaning is not a spray-and-wipe process, but a spray, scour, rinse, and dry process—ensuring our customers never experience chemical residue."
UMF and PerfectCLEAN CEO George Clarke is gratified to honor these two recipients for the essential work they perform. He notes how both are the first line of defense in ensuring staff and building occupants have safe and healthy environments.
As this year's award recipients, both Meaza and Johnson will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for two, including airfare, to a location of their choice within the 48 contiguous states.
