SCA, Philadelphia, will invest $70 million in premium tissue technology for its North American tissue business. The investment marks an expansion of its premium product offering and will support customer demand in the away-from-home market for premium towel, tissues and napkin products.
Plans include an upgrade of an existing machine yielding approximately 70,000 tons per year, and overall capacity will not increase. Production is expected to begin in late 2012 or early 2013.
“This investment is part of our ongoing strategy to position SCA and our Tork brand as a leading provider of hygiene solutions. Our products and dispensing systems offer comprehensive, value-added solutions to match our customers’ needs for improved image, controlled consumption, and sustainability. By growing our premium product portfolio, we can deliver even greater options,” said Don Lewis, President, SCA Tissue North America.
Since entering North America in 2001, SCA has made nearly $1 billion in capital investments in its operations in Alabama, Arizona, upstate New York and Wisconsin.
