Nuance Solutions Promotes President, Names CEO
Nuance Solutions is pleased to announce the promotion of Sean Hoffman to President. The previous President, James (Jim) Flanagan will step into the position of Chief Executive Officer. Additionally, Matt Ahrens, Vice President of Industrial Sales, is now a partner in the company.
Jim Flanagan has been President since 1990, succeeding his father, John J. Flanagan Sr., who founded Nuance Solutions in 1972. As a second-generation owner, Jim Flanagan served in various capacities including operations, finance, marketing and sales. During his 27 years as President, Jim Flanagan’s vision has been to build a company that offers opportunity, growth and security for its people and product innovation for its customers.
“I am eager to see Nuance Solutions thrive under Sean’s leadership. We are fortunate to have a person of great passion leading Nuance as we enter this new chapter,” Jim Flanagan said. He also added that the transition will enable him to spend more time focusing on new opportunities for Nuance Solutions in special applications chemistry.
Hoffman began his diverse career at Nuance in 1992. After seven successful years as a regional manager, he departed to work for another manufacturer and to complete his MBA. After moving to distribution management for eight years, he rejoined Nuance in 2008. He was promoted to Partner and Vice President of Sales in 2010. Throughout his time at Nuance, Hoffman has exemplified true leadership skills and a natural ability to support and encourage those around him.
Hoffman states, “It is an exciting time at Nuance Solutions and I am honored to take on this new responsibility as President. I look forward to continuing and adding to our culture of inventive thinking, innovative solutions and inspired possibilities for our customers and employees.”
Ahrens now joins Jim Flanagan, Hoffman, John J. Flanagan Jr. and Neil Houtsma as an owner of Nuance Solutions. Throughout the last 24 years at Nuance, Ahrens established himself as an expert in the industrial cleaning market. He’s held various positions including Regional Manager, Industrial Specialist and Director of Industrial Sales. His strength as a leader lies in his ability to educate while working together with clients and teammates to develop products that address specific needs.
