Major change has come to the America's Southeast as Florida instituted a minimum wage hike on Tuesday, reports News 6.
Minimum wage is now $14 after previously jumping from $12 to $13 in 2024. The third-most populated state in the country, according to World Population Review, Florida narrowly approved the hike in a 2020 vote.
The amendment voted on in 2020 will raise the minimum wage in Florida to $15 on Sept. 30, 2026. After that, the minimum wage will rise with inflation.
The federal minimum wage remains just $7.25, a rate that makes it difficult for one to survive. At $8.46 minimum wage in Florida wasn't that much better prior to the amendment.
