The first half of 2025 has seen an increased focus on immigration enforcement and workplace compliance, say The Workplace Advisors reporting. Employers that rely heavily on immigrant labor must be prepared for increased focus on I-9 compliance and the possibility of potential ICE raids.
Why this matters:
- I-9 Audits and ICE raids are increasing.
- Fines and legal consequences for non-compliance are steep.
- Even unintentional errors can lead to serious risk.
- A proactive approach to compliance now can save companies a lot of problems down the line.
According to reports from The Workplace Advisors, President Trump has stated he intends to deport up to 20 million people, while experts estimate there are only 11 million undocumented people in the US currently. Since only two million non-citizens have criminal histories and/or previously issued final orders of removal, the other eighteen million immigrants impacted will likely be those currently protected under Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA or “Dreamers”), Temporary Protected Status (TPS), Deferred Enforced Departure (DED), and other humanitarian parole programs.
