Georgia Tech Athletics and Atlanta-based Veritiv have announced a historic partnership. Veritiv will become Georgia Tech football's first-ever jersey patch sponsor, as well as the Official Sustainability Partner of Georgia Tech Athletics.

In addition to pioneering the first jersey patch partnership in Georgia Tech athletics history, this multi-year strategic partnership offers Vertiv the opportunity to collaborate with Tech student athletes in name, image, and likeness activities. The alliance between the Yellow Jackets and Veritiv brings together two organizations with deep Atlanta roots and mutual values—commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community impact.

"When considering such a high-profile partnership, it's imperative to identify an organization with values and ideals that align with your own," says Georgia Tech Vice President and Director of Athletics Ryan Alpert. "With its deep Atlanta and Georgia Tech roots, as well as its commitment to innovation and being a positive influence in our community, Vertiv is exactly what we were looking for. We thank Sal—a Georgia Tech alumnus—and his team for their belief in the momentum and direction of Tech football and athletics, as well as their eagerness to partner with our student athletes in NIL opportunities."

The Veritiv jersey patch will be one of the first in college football history, as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Cabinet’s approval of sponsorship logos-to-game jerseys became effective on August 1. Georgia Tech will announce jersey patch partnerships for additional sports in the coming months. Georgia Tech football will debut its Veritiv jersey patches on the national stage when the Yellow Jackets open the 2026 season on Thursday versus Colorado.

“This partnership provides a real-world platform to demonstrate how our integrated portfolio from sustainable packaging and concessions to facility solutions and operational support can deliver impact across an organization,” shares Sal Abbate, CEO of Veritiv. “We’re excited to extend our partnership beyond gameday and support the next generation of leaders.”

As the Official Sustainability Partner of Georgia Tech Athletics, Veritiv is working alongside Georgia Tech Athletics to achieve three sustainability goals:

1) Reduce waste and advance circularity
2) Make procurement more sustainable
3) Use data and innovation to improve resource efficiency

Overall, the partnership will create meaningful engagement opportunities for Georgia Tech athletics and Veritiv’s employees and community throughout the football season.
