Ecolab Inc. came in number 17 in Barron’s 2020 list of the 100 Most Sustainable Companies in the United States.
Ecolab has made the list in all three years of its existence, ranking inside the top 30 in both 2018 and 2019.
“Sustainability is core to Ecolab’s purpose to make the world cleaner, safer and healthier,” says Ecolab in a statement regarding the honor. “The company’s solutions and services help customers achieve their business and environmental goals at the lowest total cost. Ecolab also is committed to improving its own environmental footprint.”
To determine the 100 most sustainable companies, Barron’s, in partnership with Calvert Research and Management, analyzed 1,000 of the largest publicly traded companies in the U.S. and scored them on 230 performance indicators. Calvert then sorted the data into five key categories: shareholders, employees, customers, community and the planet. Companies with the highest weighted scores in each of the five categories were included in the list.
