On Earth Day, Domtar launched Domtar Connects, a companywide framework that brings together contributions and employee-led community service to strengthen the places where they live and work.

Inspired by the legacy of the EarthChoice Ambassador (ECA) Program and countless employee-led grassroots initiatives, Domtar Connects is designed to engage employees, align with the corporate values and maximize their impact. The program complements owner Jackson Wijaya’s commitment to philanthropy.

The Focus: Three Pillars with Deep Roots in What Domtar Does
Domtar Connects focuses on causes that reflect both who they are and what they make. Guided by their Community Investment Policy and grounded in their vision, mission and values, their contributions center around three key areas.

- Education and Literacy: Domtar produces paper for books and learning materials, helping to foster education and literacy.
- Humanitarian Needs: Their products support essential services and rebuilding efforts in times of crisis or natural disasters.
- Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship: Their business is rooted in forest products, and they prioritize sustainability in their operations and in the communities they serve.

These pillars guide all of Domtar’s community investments, whether at the corporate level or through local site-based initiatives, and apply to everything from financial and in-kind donations to company-sponsored volunteer opportunities.

Organizations Can Apply for Support
Domtar invites nonprofit organizations with activities that address one or more of the three focus areas to visit the Community Investment page to learn more and apply for support through Domtar Connects.

A cross-company community investment committee reviews all requests for funding to ensure fairness and alignment with company priorities.

In addition, Domtar's individual facilities are empowered to provide support to their communities using a local Domtar Connects budget.

The mill employees are best positioned to understand the needs in their own communities. That’s why Domtar goes beyond corporate funding to empower each of their facilities to address local priorities. Each location has a designated community investment budget, overseen by the mill manager, to support causes that align with the three pillars.

Organizations interested in applying for local support may contact the Domtar facility located nearest them or submit an inquiry via their website.

Whether through corporate partnerships, local funding or the hands-on generosity of their employees, Domtar Connects reflects a long-standing commitment to helping communities thrive. Every dollar donated, every hour volunteered and every act of kindness contributes to something bigger: stronger, more connected communities for all.
