Tennant Company announced the launch of the third annual Custodians Are Key program, an 8-month recognition campaign that rewards the great work K-12 custodians are doing to make their schools look “Picture Perfect,” and honors them and their school with a $15,000 prize package.

The program launched September 14th as schools opened to what they originally thought might be a “normal” school year, only to come face-to-face with challenges due to the Delta variant. It concludes May 16, 2022.

This year’s campaign is themed “Picture Perfect” and serves as a tribute to all the nominees and winners over the past two years to make their schools sparkling clean. The program has seen more than 4,000 nominations since it began in 2019.

Starting September 14, Tennant invites school administrators, teachers and parents to nominate their custodians through November 15. Twelve finalists will be chosen from the field of nominees. Finalists receive a $500 gift card. In mid-May 2022, Tennant will select a grand prize winner from the finalist pool. The winner receives a prize valued at $5,000, while their school receives $10,000. Alfonzo Henley of Brownsville Middle School in Miami, Florida, was the most recent grand prize winner.

“Each year we get more nominations for deserving custodians representing schools across the nation. As we enter a new school year, these custodians are under more stress than ever before to keep their schools clean and the moral of students and staff up. We are excited to honor these valuable front-line workers for critically important work they do each day,” says Amanda Herbert, marketing manager, Tennant Company.

Tennant is seeking nominations of school custodians who are making their schools better, going above and beyond their daily jobs, and showing students and staff they care. Simply submit a nomination at tennantco.com/custodian by November 15. A committee of judges from Tennant will select finalists and winners based on the quality of the nomination and the impact the custodian makes on his or her school.
