
The ensuing start of flu season has one university practiced how it would distribute medication in response to a disease outbreak.
Utica College in Utica, New York, in conjunction with the Oneida County Health Department, held an exercise Wednesday in which the campus simulated the outbreak of a disease so that participants could practice giving vaccines and medication in such an emergency, reports WKTV.
The exercise helped the university to identify any blind spots it might have in its emergency medication distribution plan so that those issues could be rectified before any possible biological event occurred. Part of the exercise involved the administration of the flu shot.
