AHE piloted the CHEST program in August with Renown Healthcare in Reno, Nevada. Renown was the first to champion the certification, and has gone on to train 9 trainers and 11 technicians. Renown is conducting regular trainings now, and plans to eventually certify all of its 150 frontline workers. The VA has also embraced CHEST; the VA in Long Beach, California recently hosted a Train-the-Trainer session in their state-of-the-art conference room and training facility. AHE conducted four Train-the-Trainer sessions across the country this year and has trained and certified 150 environmental services managers and supervisors to conduct CHEST training in their own facilities. Thirty-five technicians are now pending CHEST certification, with many more programs being scheduled regularly as the tiered program takes hold throughout the country.
