Best Practices for Removing Carpet Stains
An article on the Carpet and Rug Institute website dispelled some myths and offered best practices for stain removal and carpet maintenance.
For instance, while conventional wisdom suggests that vigorously scrubbing stains is the way to go, the wicking action of blotting instead of will gently pull the stain out.
Cleaning and rinsing with plain water rather than cleaning solutions is recommended as a tool for fighting both stains and cleaning chemical residue.
The article also urges maintaining a carpet by vacuuming on a regular basis.
