The U.S. Senate voted to confirm Jeffrey Hall as Assistant Administrator for the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Douglas Troutman as Assistant Administrator for EPA’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, and Michelle Schultz to serve another term as a member of the Surface Transportation Board (STB)."

“ACD applauds the U.S. Senate for confirming Jeffrey Hall and Doug Troutman to fill two key EPA positions," Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD) President and CEO Eric R. Byer says. "The chemical distribution industry relies on clear and consistent regulations from the EPA. Mr. Hall’s previous work as a litigator and his tenure at the Justice Department and Mr. Troutman’s decades of leadership at the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) have given them the right skillset and sound judgement for these EPA leadership roles. We look forward to working with Mr. Hall and Mr. Troutman to ensure the industry continues to uphold the highest standards of safety while empowering American competitiveness."

Byer adds, “ACD also applauds the Senate for reappointing Michelle Schultz to the STB, particularly at this important time as the Board prepares to consider the consequential Union Pacific-Norfolk Southern rail merger application. Ms. Schultz is well versed on rail issues and understands the role of the STB in making critical decisions for rail customers that will impact their daily operations. In the coming months, it will be critical for the STB to uphold its high standard for merger review rules. ACD looks forward to working with Ms. Schultz and encourages her to conduct a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation of this merger application.”
