a hand sanitizer dispenser

Hand sanitizer is simultaneously very important and a big issue in the United States right now. On one hand, it’s a tool that can be used to supplement proper hand washing as part of a good hand hygiene routine — something that’s crucial with the COVID-19 pandemic continuing and the flu season approaching. On the other hand, there’s a lot of bad hand sanitizer available right now. This is made evident by the fact that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has compiled a list of more than 200 hand sanitizers people should not use because of a variety of issues.

To help people make the right choice, Smart Care, which has made hand sanitizer since 2015, provided the following tips on selecting and using a hand sanitizer.

1.  Be Sure About Alcohol Percentage

The amount of alcohol in the hand sanitizer is critically important and the most effective hand sanitizers consist of 60 to 80 percent alcohol by volume, so be sure to check the alcohol percentage before purchasing.

2.  Check Alcohol Type

Ethanol is proven to be more effective than isopropyl alcohol on its own against viruses.

3.  Extra Ingredients Can Be Good

Check out the extra ingredients in the hand sanitizers as ingredients like Aloe help to smooth the skin upon application and reduce the dryness associated with alcohol.

4. Apply Correctly

In advance of application, make sure to clean all dirt and grease from hands hands. Apply a small dab of hand sanitizer to the palm of one hand, then rub your hands together. Make sure the sanitizer has dried before wiping your hands.

5.  Select A Proven Brand

Lastly, with the increasing number of brands on the market make sure to select a brand that has an established reputation for delivering performance and efficacy.
