Discover Your Five Strengths With StrengthsFinder 2.0
By far, our favorite book at MMMM is “StrengthsFinder 2.0” by Tom Rath. This book identifies your five dominant strengths and teaches you to find the opportunity to develop them. The book includes a short assessment to take with your own personal code found in the back of the book. The assessment results reveal your top five dominant strengths, out of 34 possible traits.
“StrengthsFinder” has taught us that far too many people spend a lifetime headed in the wrong direction. Many go from the cradle to the cubicle, then to the casket, without uncovering and realizing their greatest talents and potential. The things that we are best suited for are left untapped. If this occurs in the workplace, we are six times less likely to be engaged in our job.
We use “StrengthsFinder” companywide. Our entire sales and executive leadership teams have taken this assessment to identify what each person’s strengths are. This helps us work closer together by understanding each other’s make-up and utilizing each other in areas where we excel. There are no right or wrong answers.
My top five strengths — competition, focus, ideation, futuristic and achiever — were right on describing exactly who I am. It confirms with clarity my make-up, how I am “wired,” and why I am the way I am. When I am in one of my strengths I am happy, confident and achieving the desired results for my life.

“StrengthsFinder 2.0” by Tom Rath
In 1998, the late Donald O. Clifton, Ph.D., along with author Tom Rath and scientists at Gallup, developed the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment based on a 40-year study of human strengths. This initial version was included in the 2001 bestselling management book, “Now, Discover Your Strengths.”
“StrengthsFinder 2.0,” published by Gallup Press, updates the
assessment. There are still 34 themes, but now the assessment process is faster and more reliable. Readers will get a more in-depth experience about their strengths and what makes them unique.
