'Preparing For An Emergency'

Rob Gillis
George Thomlison

Robb Gillis,
facilities services manager, with the University of Alberta, Canada

George Thomlison, manager of human resources and procurement for buildings and grounds services and facilities management

The University of Alberta has taken an integral step in the development of their facility by implementing an emergency preparedness plan. Identifying the need and taking the steps necessary to effectively establish a plan, the department is prepared for almost any situation. Lear what steps they took, the roll the custodial department played in achieving their goal, and how an effective plan impacts the entire department. Also look for their 2008 conference, Sustaining Our Buildings and Grounds - The Next 100 Years, to include topics such as emergency preparedness.
