Facility Services Exec Gives Marketing, Social Media Advice

Building service contractors know how to clean. In fact, for many, it feels like cleaning is in their DNA.

Take George Boutsalis, for example. In 2005 a young George took a job as a part-time custodian at Toronto-based Impact Cleaning Services. The 70-plus-year-old company was owned by his father, Chris, a Greek immigrant who similarly started in the cleaning industry at a young age.

For 20 years, George continued to invest in his janitorial education, enabling him to hold various positions, including area supervisor, operations manager, general manager, director, and vice president. Then, in February 2025, he was promoted to president, joining his father and siblings, Yiannis and Georgia, in executive roles.

Despite spending two decades in the cleaning industry, George still finds himself learning more—not an issue for a man whose many hobbies range from reading to boxing to owning the Toronto United Pickleball Club. That desire to keep learning and growing made George the logical choice to be the face of Impact Cleaning Services marketing initiative, which had been nonexistent.

As George explains, Impact Cleaning Services has been around for decades and provides cleaning, facility, and support services throughout Canada, yet it’s still a relative unknown among potential clients and even some industry contemporaries. Instead of spending months crafting a robust marking plan aimed at giving Impact Cleaning Services more recognition, George decided to dive right in—no research required.

Despite learning on the fly, George has found a good amount of success marketing his family’s company on LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, and his blog, The Janitor’s Journal. George shares his marketing journey and advice in the attached video.
