In team cleaning, each team member is a specialist. They perform one specific task: light-duty cleaning, vacuuming, restroom cleaning or project work. Since workers only need to learn limited duties, they are easier and faster to train. Not only will employees catch on quicker, but they’ll improve at that task sooner than they would have if learning a variety of jobs.
Specialists are easier to fill-in for, too. Absenteeism is a rampant problem in the cleaning industry. With team cleaning, when a substitute is needed, building service contractors or in-house service providers can easily replace one vacuum specialist with another. There is no guessing if the replacement janitor knows how to perform all the needed tasks for the night.
