In order to prevent cross-contamination and the spread of infectious diseases, janitors need to disinfect commonly touched surfaces. But spraying a chemical on a surface and then waiting the recommended dwell time — often as long as 10 minutes — before wiping it off can be unrealistic in facilities such as doctor and dentist offices when disinfecting is needed between patients, or between shift changes in office buildings where multiple employees share the same workspace.
Aerosols and wipes are convenient and fast ways for cleaning staffs to disinfect. Janitors simply need to spray or wipe contaminated areas and move on.
