Benefits Of High-Performance Cleaning
When we discuss high performance cleaning we are covering more than just using “green” type chemicals or switching to back pack vacuum cleaners. True high performance cleaning is a completely different approach to custodial services than preceding systems. It is not only revolutionary but also evolutionary as well. The revolution comes in that there is a complete change in the approach (dare I say paradigm shift?) to cleaning. In fact, the term “cleaning” is revised to encompass not only the removal of visible soils but also removing, sanitizing and where possible disinfecting surfaces.
It should be noted that the one of the most hostile (while being safe to humans) environments for pathogens is a clean, dry surface exposed to air and light. For example, a counter top with just a little grease or other soils can feed millions of microorganisms which reproduce at an astounding rate. By using the appropriate cleaning products and tools such as an effective detergent and clean microfiber cloths the counter top becomes a dead zone that will not support life. The revolution in high performance cleaning has brought about safer work areas thereby reducing illness and transmission of contagion.
The evolution of high performance cleaning is that it keeps improving over time. Although these changes are primarily driven by progressive manufacturers intent of providing better products, we all benefit. Just a few years ago, the “best” cleaning cloth was a used baby diaper (before disposables became the norm) that were absorbent and used from surface to surface with little regard for potential transmission of disease. The cloth might be rinsed on occasion but no one took seriously the idea of laundering them on a regular basis or designating a color for different areas.
The revolution and evolution of high performance cleaning will continue as we find better ways of maintaining the built environment.
