Restroom Care: Hard Times Call for New Cleaning Methods
Like many school districts, Idaho’s Bonneville Joint School District has been hit hard by the economic downturn. Staff has been reduced, programs were cut, and 15 part-time custodians were let go.
But because of the cutbacks, the district was concerned about properly maintaining the school restrooms. “The old mop-and-bucket system was just too slow and no longer effective,” said Bret Gordon of Hanson Janitorial Supply, a member of Pro-Link, Inc., a jansan buying and marketing group. “They wanted something that was much more thorough — and fast.”
Gordon introduced the schools to Pro-Link’s Transport Cleaning System (TCS). This battery-powered, self-contained, touchless cleaning system uses low pressure to apply properly diluted chemicals. The chemicals dissolve germs and bacteria, which are then rinsed away.
“TCS was a godsend for us,” said a district spokesperson. “It’s helping us keep our schools clean and sanitized, especially with the [custodial crew] cutbacks.”
