Restroom Care: Test And Verify

Company Website

Before Columbus, OH-based WD Partners — one of the largest and most successful architectural firms of restaurants and retail stores in the country — installs a new product in a client’s facility, they make sure they have done their homework and the product is effective.

In some cases, the company takes this approach a step further. They actually test and verify the product in their own office building and experience it first-hand.  And that’s what they did when they were considering installing waterless urinals in their clients’ facilities.

In 2001, WD Partners selected and installed a waterless system developed by Waterless CO. LLC, which is the oldest manufacturer of no-water urinals in the United States.

“They installed it in a restroom near their conference room,” says Vince Newton, a manufacturer’s rep for Waterless.  “That way gentlemen in the office used it as well as guests to the office, so [the company] could get their reactions as well.”

According to Newton, the architectural firm liked the Waterless system because it saved a significant amount of water, making it perfect for their “greener” projects, and because it substantially cut down on installation costs.

“But it had to pass the tests,” Newton says.  “They wanted to make sure it performed well before recommending or installing them in their clients’ buildings.”

Apparently, the Waterless urinals worked very well, if not better than anticipated.  WD Partners now suggests them to their clients and “when the firm moved into a much larger office building in 2006, they installed 12 Waterless urinals in the new facility,” says Newton.  “I guess you can say they are sold on no-water urinals from Waterless Co.”
