Provo City School District Adopts (OS1)

Dixon Middle School, Provo, Utah, was built in 1931 as part of the Provo City School District. It achieved (OS1) certification in 2011

Provo City School District received the Best Cleaning Industry Environmental Award, (OS1) Green Certified and Outstanding Cleaning Worker Award at the (OS1) Symposium Awards Banquet in July 2011

Today, two-chamber mop buckets are used throughout campus as a way to maintain cleaning standards and reduce cross-contamination.

Prior to certification, the custodial sink was an eyesore.

Following certification, the district updated custodial sinks so they are easy to keep clean and much more ergonomic when filling and emptying buckets.

In years past, the custodial closet was often cluttered and unorganized.

It was often difficult for workers to access necessary fixtures.

Following the implementation of (OS1), the closet is organized and all supplies and fixtures are easy to reach. Stock is also easy to track and all supplies are easily accessible.

Like the custodial closet, the custodial office was cluttered with a variety of supplies and necessary paperwork in the past.

Today, the custodial office makes important paperwork visible to all employees and organizes supplies, eliminating confusion among employees.

Workers are trained to use controlled chemicals in an effort to create efficiencies and accuracy in the cleaning program. This also helps control purchasing.

All employees are also highly trained on the specifics of the (OS1) green cleaning program.
