Waterless Urinals: School Decides To Go Dry
Today's struggling economy has caused problems for many schools around the country. But one, Pepperell Elementary in Rome, Georgia, was not having a financial problem--rather, it was wrestling with an odor problem.
The culprits were the old, water-based urinals installed in the school. No matter how thoroughly the custodial crew cleaned the urinals, odors persisted.
But what often comes as a surprise to most people, is that urine is actually sterile and odorless. It is only when urine mixes with water that bacteria develop. This is what can cause odor problems.
Looking for a solution, the school decided to “go dry,” installing waterless urinals manufactured by Waterless Co., LLC.
“Our odor problems went away almost immediately,” according to a school administrator. “And our cleaning staff loves them. They are easier and faster to clean [than conventional urinals], freeing up time our staff can use for other cleaning projects.”
