Waterless Urinal: University of California Builds "Milestone" Building

Company Website

The University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) is set to construct a major neuroscience building.

The milestone building, as it is called, will bring under one roof several of the world’s leading scientists all working to accelerate advances against such disorders as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, migraine, epilepsy, autism, mental retardation, and cerebral palsy.

The building is being constructed so that it will be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified. It will be 25 percent more energy efficient than comparable facilities and achieve 20 percent water use reduction, mainly through the use of waterless urinals.

The waterless urinals selected for the new facility are High Performance Composite (HCP) urinals developed and manufactured by Waterless Co LLC. These systems are designed to be touch free, easy to install, odor free and to save approximately 40,000 gallons of water per year.
