Anyone in charge of cleaning a building that dates back nearly 300 years, has more than 600 rooms, is one of the most famous edifices in the world, and is home to the most famous monarch on earth has got to have their hands full—of responsibility.
This is the way it is for those in charge of maintaining England’s Buckingham Palace, home to Queen Elizabeth and her family. The building is so large it is divided into a variety of apartments, galleries, and public, private, and “support” areas.
In addition, the cleaning of the facility is also divided between maids and butlers working directly for the family and contract cleaners, in charge of maintaining the support areas. These include areas such as kitchens, offices, workrooms, and similar areas necessary to keep a mega-mansion operating.
“When it comes to floor care, the Palace needs the most efficient cleaning system available,” says Pete Horrocks, managing director of Kaivac UK Ltd. “That’s why they decided to toss the conventional string mops and buckets and replace them with Kaivac’s KaiMotion SUV®.”
The KaiMotion SUV is termed Kaivac’s Janitors Closet on Wheels™. Aptly named, it includes microfiber cleaning and waxing pads, an ergonomic mop handle/frame, a KaiZoom telegraphic handle, a pad tray, a tool rack, and a 10-gallon solution tank with precise spigot control. This control allows the user to release just the right amount of cleaning solution or finish to deliver fast ergo-mopping and flawless waxing.
“This is worker-friendly technology at its very best,” says Horrocks. “The ‘SUV’ also helps reduce labor, chemical costs, and time wasting trips to the janitor’s closet, while eliminating a lot of unnecessary equipment—just the thing you need when you’ve got 600 rooms to clean.”
