Coast Mountain Bus Company, Vancouver, Canada, serves more than 700,000 passengers every day. The company has 5,000 employees with facilities throughout the Vancouver area.
According to Steve Edlund, the firm’s manager of infrastructure, the company always takes advantage of new technologies that make their service safer and more dependable, and that is why they switched from conventional to Green cleaning.
“We view using Green cleaning as a way to protect human health,” says Edlund.
Working with its Enviro-Solutions distributor, SK Sanitary Supplies, the bus company replaced nine conventional cleaning chemicals with just three Green-certified products.
“And we got rid of things like stainless steel cleaner and ammoniated glass cleaner,” says Edlund. “These were all replaced with Green equivalents.”
Training programs to teach custodial workers how to use the new products were also started. Called “Lunch and Learn,” these programs taught cleaning workers not only how to use the products but also why to use them — to protect their health.
