Carpet Care: Redefining Green Carpet Cleaning
Gary Harrison with MNR Carpet Cleaning, Nashville, Tenn., was in the market for a "Greener" carpet extractor that would also benefit workers.
Green carpet care usually refers to selecting environmentally preferable cleaning chemicals and using low-moisture carpet extractors with powerful vacuum systems to remove solution-and soil-from deep within carpet fibers. Additionally, these machines heat the water/solution, improving the effectiveness of the chemicals so less is needed. This helps protect the environment.
But Harrison wanted something more. He believes a Green machine protects not only the environment-but the operator as well.
He found what he was looking for in the new SOLUS 500 from U.S. Products.
As to traditional Green standards, the SOLUS 500 has a powerful, top mounted three-stage vacuum system that significantly improves airflow because there are no bends or angles that can restrict airflow. And the SOLUS 500 has an in-line heater providing instant 212-degree (F) heat.
But the SOLUS takes Green a step further-protecting the cleaning professional as well. The machine has an upright design, large rear wheels and wheel handles, and built-in skid rails. This makes it more ergonomic and easier to load, unload, and transport. This reduces the stress impact that the machine has on the operator in turn improving productivity.
