School officials at the Wolf Creek Public Schools, in Alberta, Canada, hope that by increasing the salaries of all cleaning personnel, they will attract and keep quality employees, according to reports from The Lacombe Globe.
"We're hopeful that this will attract people to stay with us and join our work force because there are so many great things about working in an educational system," says Larry Jacobs, WCPS superintendent.
According to the reports, the school system is currently having a difficult time coming up with the funds to pay custodians, because the private sector is so competitive in terms of the numbers of jobs available and the salaries associated with those jobs.
Jacobs says that salaries would increase by one dollar an hour and will begin as soon as the details are put in place.
