Survey Says: Employees Waste Too Much Time
As reported by Inc.com, a new survey found the average U.S. worker wastes 1.86 hours per eight-hour workday - not including lunch and scheduled breaks. That's actually an improvement from last year's inaugural survey, which showed workers squandered 2.09 hours a day.
This year's biggest time-killer was personal use of the Internet, though calling friends, socializing, running errands and "spacing out" made the list.
The survey polled 2,706 workers last month, including AOL users and corporate human-resources professionals. Results were based on an eight-hour day.
Employers spend $544 billion per year on salaries for which real work is expected but not being done.
