The state of Nebraska recently recognized Linda Atkeson for her 20 years of service as director of environmental services at a local hospital. According to the North Platte Telegraph, Atkeson was named Nebraska Custodial Supervisor of the Year. Along with the title, Atkeson will receive a plaque and a check for $1,000, as well as a one-year membership to the International Executive Housekeepers Association.
According to the article, Atkeson oversees 25 employees who are mostly full time. Perhaps one of the biggest changes she has seen over the past two decades is the increase in federal regulations and standards that dictate how, where and when employees can clean.
Atkeson said the thing she enjoys most about her job is the people, both the people she works with and the people she works for-the patients and customers.
