Spartan Chemical Announces Two Promotions
Spartan Chemical Company, Inc. announces the promotion of Dusty Brown to the position of Regional Sales Manager for Spartan’s Northern Illinois region. Brown will report to Midwest Divisional Sales Manager Dale Lujan and will be responsible for the service, sales and support of several Spartan Distributors.
He is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a finance degree. He was a brother in the Sigma Pi fraternity and very involved in the business program. Dusty comes to Spartan from an industrial textile company where he has accumulated 31⁄2 years experience in the laundry industry.
Dusty is the co-founder and on the Board of Directors for the University of Iowa Men In Business, an organization created to educate and coach young professionals. Their mission is to give business students the tools they need to put themselves ahead of the competition by educating its members on how to behave professionally inside and outside the work place. They cover business practices the school doesn’t cover such as dinner etiquette and not abusing social media. The organization has over two hundred members.
He also is involved in volunteering at organizations like Big Brother Big Sister and Camp Courageous, a non-profit that provides a “camp” retreat for people with special needs. Dusty enjoys staying active through a lot of different sports such as basketball, running, golf, and intramural football.
The company also announced the promotion of Steve Rivera to the position of Regional Sales Manager for Spartan’s Metro New York City region. Rivera will report to New England Divisional Sales Manager Jack Ellison and will be responsible for the service, sales and support of several Spartan Distributors.
Steve was born and raised in northern New Jersey where he resides with his wife Raysa, two children (Marcus and Aurora) and four “pet” motorcycles. He is a huge audiophile and also enjoys reading. Rivera loves anything to do with hockey. He plays in a local league and is a very enthusiastic, supporting parent of his son and his hockey team. Steve is currently one promotion away from his black belt in Isshinryu Karate, and is two years into the instructors’ training.
Steve’s background is in healthcare where he worked for 12 years as the x-ray image manager of the OR at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He is currently CPR certified and holds federal and New Jersey radiologic licenses.
He came into our industry four years ago working for our distributor, American Paper and Supply Company. Steve attended a Spartan JanSan Distributor Seminar in November of 2007, and had aspirations of becoming a Spartan Regional Manager ever since.
