A janitor at Gibbon Public School in Hastings, Neb., armed with rubber gloves and antibacterial spray, was busy wiping down every surface of the school, while students were home recovering. Administrators cancelled school after more than one third of students became sick with flu-like symptoms.

The school nurse was especially busy late last week as more than 100 students became ill while at school. School officials were forced to close school to allow janitors the time needed to properly disinfect. It is expected to be a two-day job and includes every service - chair, desk, table, floor, wall, toilet, etc. - in the entire school.

As if the task weren't challenging enough, officials comment that the daunting task of disinfecting the entire school has become even more difficult as all but one custodian are sick with the illness that spread around school.
