Olympic Games in China go for Green
Hotels that have signed contracts with the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) will be supplying guests with cards that read, "Please be environment friendly and help us reduce the frequency of washing towels." According to China Daily, this is just one way that guests will notice the green initiatives of the 112 hotels.
The environmental restrictions were set up by the China National Tourism Administration in early 2006 and will require all facilities be green. The BOCOG will be sending in experts to survey the hotels in early 2008 and those that fail to meet the standards will be told to do so.
According to the article, 38 of the hotels are five-star facilities, 40 are four-star and the rest are three-star.
