New York County Execs Push for Green Cleaning
According to reports on MidHudsonNews.com, Rockland County legislators have introduced legislation urging county executives to use cleaning and janitorial products that minimize potential impacts to human health and the environment, known as green cleaning products.
Legislator Alden Wolfe is quoted in the article as saying, “Green cleaning products are just as effective as traditional cleaning products, and are available at comparable prices. Switching from traditional cleaning products to these less harmful products is a logical way to protect the public health and our environment at the same time.”
Governor George Pataki has already issued an executive order requiring state agencies to use only non-toxic cleaning supplies and legislation has already been passed requiring the use of green cleaning products in all New York State schools.
This latest local proposal will come before the Environmental Committee in the coming weeks.
