Magic Tough Cleaning Receives Small Business Spirit of Philanthropy Award
Local business owners, Gary and Trish Walker of Magic Touch Cleaning were honored to receive the 2010 Small Business Spirit of Philanthropy Award from the Mid-America Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals [AFP] as part of the 2010 National Philanthropy Day celebration. The award recognizes an area small business (less than 100 employees) whose gifts or charitable activities significantly enrich their community. Recipients of this award are considered role models of philanthropic activity and are actively serving many segments of their community.
Magic Touch Cleaning was nominated by Hope House domestic violence shelter for their generous partnership spanning more than a decade. Each year Magic Touch Cleaning and its associates provide green cleaning services to Hope House facilities and sponsor a Food Drive and a Toy Drive to provide holiday gifts and meals for the residents of Hope House and their families. The Hope House is one of many organizations Magic Touch and its associates support. Others include the Ronald McDonald House, Boys and Girls Clubs, American Lung Association, and several other local charities benefitting the community.
National Philanthropy Day was established to celebrate the outstanding efforts of organizations and individuals who are champions of charitable giving. Each year local AFP Chapters host more than 110 events involving over 50,000 people across North America. This year's National Philanthropy Day theme was "Change the World with a Giving Heart".
