Inver Grove Heights school district announced the expansion of elementary and middle schools, according to reports in the Twin Cities, Minn. Pioneer Press. Renovations are expected to begin this spring and be concluded by the 2007-2008 school year.

Voters approved the rebuilding of parts of the middle school and increasing the size of the elementary school. This allowed school leaders to finance $33 million in building renovations.

Due to major renovations in the elementary school, officials approved a scheduled closing following the 2006-2007 school year. The closing is expected to save $378,000 yearly in janitorial and administrative expenses. Annual savings would go toward reducing class size or offering new programs in other district buildings.
