James Peck Named Chair of BOMA International
James A. Peck, RPA, FMA, senior director of asset services, CB Richard Ellis, BOMA/New Mexico, has been named Chair and Chief Elected Officer of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International. Peck was sworn in at the 2009 BOMA International Conference & The Office Building Show in Philadelphia. His term runs through June 2010.
Peck has more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate. In his current position as Senior Director in CB Richard Ellis' Albuquerque office, Peck oversees the Asset Services department, which manages more than 3 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space in New Mexico. He is responsible for property operations, client communications, strategic planning, marketing, construction management and directs the sustainability efforts of the Albuquerque office. He has been with CB Richard Ellis since 2001.
Peck has been an active member of BOMA at the local, regional and international levels since 1986. He was President of BOMA/New Mexico from 1995-1997 and served as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Southwest Region. He has also been active in several BOMA International committees, including the State Government Affairs Committee, Industry Defense Fund Oversight Committee, Finance Committee and the Government Affairs Committee, where he served as Chair.
In addition to his service on various committees, Peck has also been extremely involved in government affairs and energy management issues. He has been instrumental in achieving industry-wide acceptance for BOMA's 7-Point Challenge, an innovative energy reduction plan to achieve market transformation in the commercial real estate industry. Recently, Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chávez announced the city's endorsement of the 7-Point Challenge. Peck helped facilitate the partnership, making Albuquerque the second U.S. city to sign on to the Challenge.
Peck received the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation in 1994 and Facilities Management Administrator (FMA) designation in 1998. He is a Certified Instructor through the BOMI Institute, and has taught several education courses in Albuquerque. He attended California State University at Hayward, and majored in business administration and photography.
